So many legs!

Centipedes

Centipedes are solitary animals and will not breed in your house. Centipede means 'hundred feet', but centipedes can have anywhere between 15 to over one hundred pairs of legs. The legs of the first body segment are actually claws. These claws contain toxins, or poisons, and are used to attack and capture prey, usually other insects.

Centipedes bites are painful and venomous, but not dangerously so. No one dying from a centipede bite in the United States, or even in this hemisphere. There is, however, a very large species of centipede in Asia that has caused a few deaths.
